History of the Calumet City- Lansing (IL) Alumni Chapter

On May 5, 2018, a small group of Kappa Alpha Psi members met to form an Alumni Klub in Calumet City and Lansing, IL.  The overall objective of this meeting was to charter a new alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi and to serve the community in which they lived.  As faith would have it, 85 members of Kappa Alpha Psi joined to improve the social conditions of the area by signing their names to a petition to form the Calumet City- Lansing (IL) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc.  On July 27, 2018, close to half of its members attended the North Central Province retreat in Chicago to present their proposal for the Calumet City-Lansing Klub.  After giving a successful proposal, the North Central Province Polemarch, Byron C. Thornton decided to move the petition forward to the Grand Board for consideration for chartering.  At the Grand Board meeting in Orlando, Florida on November 16th, 2018, the Grand Board successfully voted on the Calumet City-Lansing (IL) Alumni chapter officially being an Alumni chapter.  Each of the 85 members (see attachment) is purposed by the Chapters mission, which is:

“The fundamental purpose of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. is the achievement in every field of human endeavor. To that end, the Calumet City-Lansing (IL) Alumni Chapter seeks to provide leadership to local Undergraduate Chapters in areas that would advance their knowledge of professional expectations and practice, civility, and community service.”

On November 16th, 2018, the Calumet City- Lansing (IL) Alumni Chapter was officially accepted to the North Central Province as the 35th Alumni Chapter in the province. As part of a grand celebration, the Calumet City-Lansing (IL) Alumni Chapter was chartered on December 7th, 2018.
